The page is repetitive and could use cleanup. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.83.85.18 (talkcontribs) 07:39, 1 July 2009

I don't see how it's repetetive, but you're more than welcome to take a shot at improving it!

Should this be merged with Payment in kind? TheCoffee (talk) 07:12, 29 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Gifts in Kind a bad thing for local economies

edit

I was just reading an article at the csmonitor about misprinted Superbowl t-shirts being donated to Africa, specifically about gifts in kind being bad for the local economies where they're being sent. Should something be added here? Onlynone (talk) 16:51, 15 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

There's certainly "bad GIK" and "good GIK". Global Hand has a series of standards that reputable gifts-in-kind organizations can apply to themselves to ensure that the things they give aren't harmful. To say that Gifts in Kind is bad for local economies is really a grossly unfair oversimplification of a complicated situation that people who do Gifts in Kind are very much on top of.
