You are correct, Spanglish is not a recognized standard language -- but I imagine many reviewers who favor this author's works wouldn't deign to acknowledge the significance or importance of even temporal conventions like grammar or linguistic definitions. The article goes on to say the following in sincere reverence without a hint of irony, "Written in three languages, English, Spanglish, and Spanish, Braschi's work captures the cultural experience of nearly 50 million Hispanic Americans." Wow, sounds pretty profound! How did the author manage that in the span of a single or even several works, especially considering that the 50 million people come from distinctly different nationalities and backgrounds? Established standard headers for a biographical article, which this is supposed to be. Put life events in relatively chronological order. Try to organize literary career by chronology; reduce repetition about books. Need to move literary discussion to overview or related. Put lengthy reviews of 'US of Bananas' in the article on that book. Had too much here. If she is so influential, find references other than her books.
