Togusa is not the rookie
The game manual has a prologue by Togusa on p. 4-5 which starts off with “They call me the ‘Rookie,’ the newest member of Public Security Bureau - Section 9.” However the training movies, in-game cinematics and pre-mission briefings in several instances show Togusa interacting with the player and have the other characters referring to the player AND Togusa as well. This can be verified by entering the following cheat at the main menu to access all the missions and movies: R2, R1, Square, Square, Up, Down, Square, Square, R2, R2. Dialogue below was taken directly from the game, with some omissions (…).
Training Movie 7
- Togusa: Well, you’ve made the grade, congratulations.
- Bateau: Uh uh, no way, that greenhorn is going back to basic.
- Kusanagi: He’ll be fine, let him do it. Cut the guy some slack.
- Togusa: You’re in. Break a leg, kid.
Training Movie 8
- Bateau (addressing the player): I’m impressed someone can show an impressive fight even though he’s been on the beat.
- Togusa (who is next to Bateau): Well, excuse me for not being flashy.
Training Movie 9:
- Togusa (addressing the player): Wow. Already this stuff?
Mission 2 briefing
- Kusanagi: Togusa and the rookie can check out the tributaries.
Mission 6 briefing
- Kusanagi: Rookie, you lead the offense. Togusa and Bateau, back him up.
Mission 7 briefing
- Kusanagi: Bateau can take the west block, Togusa the east, and the rookie the central block.

- Togusa: Are you alright?
- Bateau: Impressive, rookie. New guy’s doing just fine.

- Togusa: Major, I’ve been hit too. It’s impossible to move forward.
- Kusanagi: Rookie, try to reach the top floor through the air duct. I’ll try to see if I can get up through the elevator shaft. You copy that?
Mission 12 briefing
- Kusanagi: ...Bateau, Togusa, are you guys able to get the job done?
- Bateau: ...Sorry major...
- Togusa: Same here. If we only had 5 more minutes.
- Kusanagi: Well rookie, you’re all we have left...

Need help
If anyone can find the Making of Game book (in the article) it would be great to use for a development section. Other than that we might also need some magazines (that are now out of print) for reviews and news it would be great. Soundtrack Issue
The limited edition picture disc is the only soundtrack not covered in the official soundtrack site. (By the way, we may have to archive all these pages too preserve the information. I've never seen sites last over 10 years and I'm sure it won't last anytime soon.) The only site that covers about is a fan blog about all the soundtracks and merchandise of the video game. However, the site also covers promotional casettes that were released in germany, and apparently a 12" vinyl single of the song "Ghost in the Shell" by Takkyu Ishino, again to promote the release in europe. I'm afraid we'll have to remove the limited edition Picture disc until we can find some reliable sources on it.Lucia Black (talk) 21:21, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
- I just removed it. It was quite difficult to keep and source the others. I would like it to return, but maybe its not a real release, there's not much info on it. Similar to the casettes they may be just promotional discs given to radio-hosts.Lucia Black (talk) 01:32, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
- That's a bit speculative, but we know it exists... so why are you removing the content because you can't find a "reliable source" for it? Reliable source can be many things, even a blog which shows "this exists", I do not see why a lack of a better source somehow makes it acceptable to remove something like this. Why not leave it in or go and grab the disc record; either way this will turn up, without images or anything fancy, when you entire it in to the databases. Seems to result in a detriment to our coverage to remove it because the one site that has detailed coverage and proves "this exists" is a blog. Reliable sources are subjective and there is no "blogs are all bad" - each and every case demands its own analysis, for nothing more than "this is it" a blog seems to be acceptable to state "this exists". - we don't know that is an actual release, probably a promotional collectors item, or a promotional disc for DJs (similar to the cassettes being released.

- Also, the site you have is primary source, so we do rely heavily on the information given. With that said, the site only covers 3 versions. The regular edition, the limited 2-disc edition, and the limited 2-disc Vinyl LP edition. There is no information on the "Picture Vinyl" version. The others only need to be verified by mere existence because those are actual releases. But the "Picture Vinyl" version is a promotional "not for sale" release. - I think you do not understand that it is perfectly acceptable to use the site for this information. So what if it is "not for sale", so was the Daicon Laserdisc. Doesn't change the fact that it exists. You want to omit it despite knowing it exists on the grounds that you can't find another source about its data. I disagree with that. We shouldn't use unreliable sources at all, even for simple stuff such as that. Plus, there are dozen more releases out there that have been released for the video game. Some that don't cover the existence at all. Considering the main site only covers those threee, its safe to say those were the only main releases.Lucia Black (talk) 19:06, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

Maybe you had it backwards this whole time. Still, even if it was acceptable too use such a source, it would affect its chances of being a featured article (high-quality sources). Its best to remove it until it can be verified properly. Also note that this isn't the only release that can't be verified. There's the promotional cassettes and the single too. Not to mention some figurines too. I'm sure you can understand that standards still apply, we can't save it all.Lucia Black (talk) 07:20, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
- The source would be the data from its records and that is a primary source, you just need to cite it properly. Whatever, I'm not arguing with you over this. I own things more obscure and rare and have no problems citing the physical items or even finding them, but the item itself is never an unreliable source for its own existence, that just doesn't make any sense. I was pointing out that Daicon even as a "not for sale" is still verifiable and despite only a few hundred being made, is still worth mentioning despite a more "official" release. - What data from what records/ Unreliable sources shouldn't be exempt just because the information we need is something that simple. And again,, consider that there are even more releases.
