Choral song help

I made a major edit to the article portion about the choral song. I thank the original contributor of the text and did my best to preserve what they were trying to say. The original text had been stuffed awkwardly into the trivia section, which messed up the formatting, so I moved it to its own section. The original text was somewhat hard to understand, so I did my best to rewrite it without changing its meaning.

Please help:

• Track down and contact the original author to have them verify my edits.
• Check my edits against the original text to verify that I preserved the intent of the text: see diff.
• Edit my edits.

I'm glad the Bulgarian influence wasn't just a figment of my imagination - I would never have guessed that the director did it deliberately! Things To Do

• Analysis of the film, linking to science and philosophy.
• Perhaps working on the plot summary a bit. i.e. Portray distinctions between the Japanese Language and English Language versions of the film
• More info on the impact of the film upon audiences.

Time

The US DVD versions have 82 minutes. I am not sure if they have cut time out of the 115 minutes (as previously stated in the article) but I've checked various sources and it appears that 82 minutes is correct. Progress

I'm very happy with the progress of the article in the past month. Since the time when the stub had been filled out, there have been many great contributors to the article. I've been sort of overseeing the project and I would have to thank many of you who contributed to grammar or spelling editing as well as contributions to information and pictures. Cult status?

The caption for the picture of the movie in the Cyperpunk article refers to GITS as a cult film. Does it have a 'cult' status, and if so, should it be mentioned in the article.

Setting

Trivia mentions that the city was unknown, but the (terrible excuse for a) making-of featurette on the DVD quotes Mamoru Oshii as saying that it was based on Hong Kong specifically. I'm wondering what source says it was 'created to be a mix of Asian culture'. Tenebrous 04:53, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

Follow-up on the previous post: I watched the movie again and had a look at the featurette on my copy of the movie. There is no mention in the movie of where the movie is actually set in. However, the producers clearly stated in the featurette that the movie is set in Hong Kong, unlike the manga and the TV series (Standalone Complex). Which source calls it New Port City (Niihama-shi)? --Neofaun 20:32, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

In the beginning with the cacophony of radio voices, there is a mention of Newport City. In both English and Japanese audio, there is mention of Newport (not really Niihama, but literally ニューポート) in both English and Japanese. And it's in the subtitles. How important this really is... Trimming the plot section

Live Action Remake?!

I just got word from Darkhorizons.com - [1] - that there are plans for a live action remake of the manga/anime Ghost in the Shell, should there be a notice on this this page about it? - RVDDP2501 23:41, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Not enough background

The plot summary, while certainly long, does not have any background about the world this takes place in, and neither any explanation when a new name is introduced. That should be rectified. -- John Smythe 07:26, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
