Update
editThe article should be updated to mention the current coalition, being the first three-party coalition on a national level in Germany. Discostu (talk) 07:04, 9 December 2021 (UTC)
Black-green coalition
editI was blocked from adding the appropriate emojis (⚫🟢) for the black-green coalition. Could someone else add them please. Lagustus (talk) 20:58, 1 February 2023 (UTC)
Depicting coalition colours
editThere seems to be disagreement on how the colour combinations of various coalitions should be depicted in the section Possible combinations. Previously, emojis were used for this purpose. Recently, those were all removed by 0xDeadbeef. I am proposing using a table instead of the itemized list currently in use.
Coalition | Coalition leader | Other coalition parties | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Grand coalition | Christian Democratic Union of Germany | Social Democratic Party of Germany | ||||
Traffic light coalition | Social Democratic Party of Germany | Free Democratic Party (Germany) | Alliance 90/The Greens |

- I'm in favor of having the colors included in the article and would be fine with either the prior system (inline) or in a table as above. The colors make the information more memorable and easily accessible; some people are visual learners in general. It's another useful way of illustrating the article, just like images or maps. —Ganesha811 (talk) 22:01, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
- I prefer the table option. Emojis disrupt the experience of screen reader users and should be avoided. 0xDeadbeef→∞ (talk to me) 01:17, 3 February 2023 (UTC)
- The emoji-solution is more readable (in my opinion) but the table solution might be more helpful for readers completely unfamiliar with German party politics. Maybe, the colour combinations could be included into the table in some way:
- All the colors could be depicted next to each other for the coaltion and get repeated for the parties involved.
- I prefer the table option. Emojis disrupt the experience of screen reader users and should be avoided. 0xDeadbeef→∞ (talk to me) 01:17, 3 February 2023 (UTC)
Coalition | Coalition leader | Other coalition parties | |||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Traffic light coalition | Social Democratic Party of Germany | Free Democratic Party (Germany) | Alliance 90/The Greens |
- Alternatively, some appropriate picture could be used.

- Personally, I don't really like either of these tables. Maybe someone else has a better solution. [Edited: because I am bad with tables] Lagustus (talk) 18:05, 5 February 2023 (UTC)
- I think the tables would be fine but see now issues with the emojis. How well do screen readers handle tables? Are they similarly disruptive or are they parsed cleanly? —Ganesha811 (talk) 22:19, 6 February 2023 (UTC)
