Sixteenth Century Germany edit

Sixteenth Century Germany was characterized by social, religious and political upheaval. Artists found patrons who shared their sensibilities which often meant leaving Germany to find them. The majority was Protestant rather than Catholic and commissioned art work to fulfill new and unique needs. 220.245.180.133 (talk · contribs · WHOIS)

Added Martin Luther edit

Not sure how this article could not have any mention of Martin Luther, the main instigator of that "religious upheaval" mentioned! I didn't put much detail as there's obviously a lengthy article devoted to him, but feel free to expand it. --Henitsirk (talk) 03:57, 28 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

??? edit

Am I the only one that noticed that this says Adolf Hitler lived in the 15th century? Was that a typo? Is there another Adolf Hitler? or is this person just making stuff up?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.51.134.251 (talk) 03:00, 13 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Heyy..Just so people know, I am editing this page as a History project for my History 101 class at George Mason University. So I would appreciate the chance do expand this article without any interference. I am not doing this for fun or disruptiveness, again it is for a class. Thanks Courtney =) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.174.180.3 (talk) 20:47, 15 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I noticed that you and/or your school mates have been editing this article significantly. It would be appreciated by everyone who comes to read this article if you guys could familiarize yourselves with some of the basics of editing Wikipedia articles; in particular, putting double square brackets to either side of what you want to create an internal link to. For example, simply putting "[[Renaissance]]" into your contributed text will result in "Renaissance", as is the standard practice in Wikipedia. You might also want to take a look at Help:Editing and Help:Wikitext examples for some more info. Thanks and good luck. Knyght27 (talk) 08:26, 2 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi, whilst this article is seriously sub-optimal, if you are going to turn it into a pet project please use the sand box, you shouldn't change the main page substantially without asking for a peer review. Especially if you don't want people to change the main page after you have made any significant edits to it. 213.38.11.86 (talk) 14:17, 10 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Phooey - they've moved on now, having improved the page considerably, which was not hard. It is still pretty terrible though. But "if you don't want people to change the main page after you have made any significant edits to it", you shouldn't be editing here at all. Who is going to do a peer review on a near-stub like this used to be? Johnbod (talk) 16:25, 10 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Was Gutenberg a humanist and free thinker? edit

Johannes Gutenberg was a blacksmith, goldsmith and inventor of moveable type printing press in Europe as per my knowledge and the main Wikipedia’s article on him. But, he has been mentioned as a humanist and a free thinker in this article. Had he anything to do with humanism and free thinking? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 14.102.104.186 (talk) 06:52, 26 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

A little observation edit

Isn't it odd, that there is no german wiki-page for this (or even a wiki-page for northern-renaissance)? Being a german historian I have to say, that most of my colleages struggle with the concept of "Renaissance" (due to J.Burckhardt) at all...--78.51.1.224 (talk) 01:57, 24 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
