Help with shoulder patches, please edit

My father is among the four in this photo from ~1947. Can anyone help identify the shoulder patches, please? Also, were there 4-man crews in submarines doing the mine-sweeping? If this is a 4-man crew, what might the duties of the fourth man (without a visible patch) be?
