False information edit

Untitled edit

The following information has been in this article since September, 2006. Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerald_Doucet"

"He obtained a BA from the University of Ottawa and an MA in economics from Carleton University. From 1967-1981 he carried out various roles of an economic or policy nature with the Canadian government. In 1982 he became Senior Vice President of the Retail Council of Canada, a position he held for five years. From 1988-1992, Mr Doucet was Agent General in Europe for the Province of Ontario, and from 1992-1994 he was President and Founding Director Europe for the Europe-Canada Development Association. In 1994 he became President and CEO of the Canadian Gas Association, until taking up his present position as Secretary General of the World Energy Council in September 1998."

None of this information is true in regards to Gerald Doucet. I just finished reading his biography "Acadian Footprints", and he makes no mention to any of it, but does talk about what he was really doing during these years. It seems odd that false information could be included in an article for such a long period of time. What makes matters worse in this situation is that other editors unknowingly used this false information for inclusion in various categories where Mr. Doucet should not have been included. This is obviously not their fault, as I'm sure they had no reason to believe that the info provided was anything but true. It hasn't been that long since I first started editing wikipedia, mostly just fixing articles, and reverting vandalism, but I will make an effort to improve this article and verify the information included. I figured that, but since it has nothing to do with this particular Gerald Doucet, it doesn't belong in the article. Cmr08 (talk) 00:45, 11 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
