Moved here from the article (useful information but lacks appropriate citations): "Sir George Shaw is the great grandfather of my two children, Phillip Durnford Shaw, and my daughter Meredith Shaw-Wood. Family history as per my late husband David Durnford Shaw who served with the British navy throughout WW2, said that Sir George was initially an army officer who took part in the annexation of Burma in earlier years than 1913, his second son, my children's grandfather, Sir Joseph Shaw KBE, it seems was the last Chief Justice of Burma under the British administration, and was educated in Edinburgh University. He walked out of Burma with two companions to India ahead of the Japanese invasion. Sir Joseph's last task under the British administration I heard was to go back to Burma for the trial of some of the Japanese military. I have an inscribed silver mug of Sir George's 'from his friend Walter Pockett'. I have various awards to Sir Joseph from King George VI though not the medals which are with another member of the family, and photographs of him at different ages.
