Bio details

I have a disagreement with another editor over the importance of details in this biography. The edit in question is http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=George_Salmon&curid=589203&diff=258991616&oldid=258990376. My view is that details are important even if not understood by all readers, and also that the appropriate reaction to concern that details will not be understood is to explain them better, not remove important information. 165.189.101.177 (talk) 16:20, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Tell us why the details are important. In my view the only important difference between "high honors in mathematics" and "first senior moderator" is that the first is plain language and the second is obfuscated. The name of the secondary school he attended is a piece of worthless trivia for 99.99% of our potential readers; and the other 0.01% can find school name in a lengthier bio if they actually want it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Seanwal111111 (talk • contribs) 16:29, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
