Three things

  1. A statement in the article caused me to wonder if we're here to accurately represent human knowledge or if we're here merely to repeat cherry-picked sources. The statement in question says "...and is the first Alaska lawmaker to hail from the villages around Iliamna Lake.". Martin Seversen served in the House as an interim appointee in 1977, after the courts threw out the election between Nels Anderson and Joe McGill. While he was a longtime resident of Naknek at the time, he was originally from Nondalton. There are quite a few local history sources on Iliamna Lake which write extensively about the Seversen family and also mention Martin Seversen in non-trivial terms.
  2. Jacko's troubles were pretty much the defining event of the 18th Legislature. Are we giving so little weight to it because of BLP or because of cluelessness?
  3. Jacko has since redeemed himself and has received coverage in recent years for a leadership role in the Pebble Mine dispute. I note this because we already have too many one-dimensional directory entries about short-timers in state legislatures.
