Military service

edit

Whether he did any military service needs looking into as the only picture this article has of him shows him in a frock-coat type military uniform that would have been familiar in the 1870s-1890s with the cap badge of a fusilier regiment (if not of the Royal Engineers, Artillery or Grenadier Guards, all three of which used a 'fusil' as a cap badge at different times.Cloptonson (talk) 16:57, 1 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for pointing that out. This old encyclopedia ( https://nzetc.victoria.ac.nz/tm/scholarly/tei-Cyc06Cycl-t1-body1-d1-d27-d54.html ) tells us that he was a first lieutenant of the Wellington Guards, of which he was a member for many years. I have added that to his article.Sammyrice (talk) 02:11, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
