According to [1] Bower was in his "52nd year", i.e. was aged 51, when he died on 20 December 1800. The Foster ref gives date of birth 1748 or 1749. So the chances are he was born in 1749. But not 100% certain.
In the same ref, his mother's name is given as Frances Pennee. She is therefore presumably a sister of Edward Penny. The ODNB gives as Edward Penny's parents Robert Penny (1687–1738), surgeon and Clare Trafford. Charles Matthews (talk) 13:49, 7 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
