Talk:Geography of Paraguay

Latest comment: 2 years ago by Jafeluv in topic Redirect from Parana Plateau

A controversy has erupted over the choice of map for this article. The two candidates are shown here, along with any others that other Wikipedians may choose to enter. Feel free to make any comments. The lower map may also appear in the corresponding Geography article for this country. Kelisi 16:43, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Redirect from Parana Plateau edit

Someday, could someday remove the redirect from Parana Plateau and create a separate article on it? It is not the same as this article, but a sub-area of Paraguay's geography. It is also it's own distinct physiographic province (or ecosystem) and as such doesn't really belong in here except as a wikilink the article. Thanks. wbfergus Talk 14:18, 2 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Paraneña Region edit

Citation needed. By the way, I've lived almost my entire life in Paraguay and never heard anyone using the word "Paraneña". Is it a geologist's term or something like that? Here people call it simply "the Oriental Region" or, until a couple of centuries ago, "Paraguay proper" Aldo L (talk) 13:59, 1 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

I agree with this comment. I too have lived there all my life and have never heard of the term before. All I was thinking about when reading the article was "what the heck is this Paraneña and who came up with it?" --3M (talk) 04:38, 19 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
Ok, I checked the history and apparently User:Brian0918 (the first one to use the term Paraneña) said he is citing some Library of Congress Public Domain text. I don't know how reliable this source is, but I'll keep looking into it. --3M (talk) 04:48, 19 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
Funny, lots of English sites (though none reliable) call it that. Probably quoting this article though, since it's been like this since 2005. The only site I found using the word in Spanish was a computer translation of the article. What should we do? Change it? --3M (talk) 04:55, 19 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
