Is Poletti a Democrat?

Both here and in Renzi Cabinet minister Giuliano Poletti is referred as an independent. However, he has long been politically active: he was long a member of the PCI/PDS and, most recently, he has been spoken at the national assembly of the PD. I ping him. I am not an expert, I have always considered him a member of PD. But I guess if he were formally enrolled in any party, they would probably had advised him to keep it quite many times, considering his quotes from last months :D --Alexmar983 (talk) 07:22, 20 April 2017 (UTC)

Well, sincerly, I'm not sure about his membership. Of course, for example, Poletti is different from Padoan, another centre-left independent which is ideologically close to PD, but absolutely not a member of the party. Poletti was the leader of LegaCoop, the main cooperative federation active in Italy, which is close to the Democratic Party; moreover as Checco said he was a member of PCI and PDS, and probably he's a member of the PD, (in fact he spoke to the National Assembly), but unfortunately I have no sources to prove that. -- Nick.mon (talk) 14:00, 20 April 2017 (UTC)

Thank you Alexmar For the "expert", but I'm not an expert at all; I'm sure that Checco and Nick.mom know very much more than me. Anyway, I, too, am not sure about Poletti's membership. I'm editing by phone now, when I'll arrive at home I'll try to search for some sources. ...and what about Calenda?

In February 2015 minister Calenda was reported joining the PD (see article from Corriere della Sera), but after that he has been considered an independent by news sources. How should we consider him in this article and in Renzi Cabinet? --Checco (talk) 08:02, 26 April 2017 (UTC)

In it.Wiki they say that Calenda expressed his intention to join the PD after the de facto end of Civic Choice, but then he didn't. So I think that we can consider him an independent. And what have we decided about Poletti? -- Nick.mon (talk) 08:15, 26 April 2017 (UTC)

It.Wiki can't be a source, but it is true that Calenda is generally considered an independent by the media; additionally, the media, Renzi on TV and (indirectly) Casini this morning on the Corriere della Sera have talked about Calenda as a possible leader of the centre-right or as the "Italian Macron". I would probably list him as an independent since his appointment as minister of Economic Development, while listing him as a Democrat after the break-up of SC. On Poletti, my idea is to consider him as a Democrat only in this cabinet and not in Renzi's government. --Checco (talk) 08:36, 26 April 2017 (UTC)

Calenda is an independent, I agree. About Poletti, living in China I can't use google so I can't get decent sources on such a specific aspect. In the end, I think that he is so close to the "PD world" that for the vast majority of Italians there's no real difference if he is or is not formally enrolled.--Alexmar983 (talk) 05:59, 2 May 2017 (UTC)
