On 24 Oct 1890, "Forks of Twelve Pole" was changed by the Postmaster Edmund George Reed To Genoa. Genoa was the daughter of Edmund G. Reed and Leona Guy Wilson, who was born at "Forks of Twelve Pole" on 16 June 1887. Hence the town was renamed Genoa.
