This had to be re-worded. It was a direct quote from the official webpage without any attribution. Tmesipt.

This article appears on a page of proposed mergers along with Town of Geneseo. The confusion originated with the one of the original writers, who thought, or at least treated, both entities as one place. These are TWO different places, the village being inside the town, so no merger is needed or desirable. However, additions, corrections, augmentations, etc. are always useful.

Yah, but right now they are essentially the same article. Until someone actually wants to make a page for the village, this one should be deleted or merged

The reasons the two articles appeared similar are (1) The original writer copied the information from one article to the other indiscriminately, (2) they are located in the same place and have similar histories. Nevertheless they are TWO separate entities, just like many other similarly named entities in New York and other locations. Also, prior to the merger, the two articles had obvious differences. Merger was unjustified and erroneous. Stepp-Wulf (talk) 03:16, 13 July 2009 (UTC).Reply
