Gelcoat is the plastic and industrial industry's greatest invention for putting on a production topcoat. It is pliable/flexible and hard as a rock at the same time. You can work with it thick like clay or thin as water as a super high gloss topcoat. Though if you do not understand it, it can be a little difficult to work with as a hobbyist or to do a repair. One has to understand that it essentially has 2 hardeners, mekp and wax. But the wax is is not a chemical hardener, it seals the outside layer from air and kicks it the rest of the way through.
