COI and Other Relevant Information edit

Gekko software is freely available with the Apache license. It is developed by Logan Beal at Brigham Young University under the National Science Foundation Grant (NSF #1547110) entitled EAGER: Cyber-Manufacturing with Multi-echelon Control and Scheduling. I created this article as Logan's research advisor and to fulfill NSF's objective of having broader impacts and disseminating the research for others.

As with any new developments, there are concerns about the notability of the subject. The initial reviewer did not find substantial references through a Google search and suggests that the article be deleted. Granted, the software is new and does not have a long history of references. However, this software is the successor to the APMonitor Optimization Suite that is extensively cited in the literature and is currently one of the most popular packages for dynamic optimization. Below are some additional search routes to establish GEKKO notability:

None of these has any weight in establishing notability. Social media posts and discussions don't count. Download sites where the product can be obtained from don't count. APMonitor isn't independent. The fact that a product is used doesn't contribute to notability.

It may be a "successor to" another product that may have met the notability requirements (I don't know whether it does, I haven't looked), but notability is WP:NOTINHERITED. Largoplazo (talk) 15:56, 29 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
