It says it was their first trophy of any kinds since 1963. Didn't they win an under 18's or a reserves premiership between them>

There should be some mention of the Ford sponsorship, the significance of which it is supposed to be the most enduring sponsorship of any sporting club by any business having sponsored the club continously for over 80 years.

Is Gellong 80 kilometres from the edge of the Melbourne metro area, or from the city centre?

I know in Perth, the metropolitan area extends for about 100 kilometres in each direction, so a town 80 kilomtetres from Perth (i.e. Mandurah) counts as part of Perth.

Melbourne's metro area extends about 50 kilometres in some directions, but only about 15-20 kilometres to the west and south-west. There are many kilometres of farmland between Melbourne and Geelong, and their development is unlikely for a very simple reason - the smell from the massive sewerage treatment works at Werribee is pretty unbearable :) Geelong has its own newspapers and radio stations, and certainly regards itself as a seperate city. --Robert Merkel

The nearest Melbourne suburb to Geelong would be the west south western suburb of Werribee, that's about 30km from Melbourne's CBD, and that area probably extends several more kilometres towards the northern outskirts (around Lara) of Geelong. --Pontsticill

It's in regards to an Australian Rules team. After Melbourne, Geelong is the second oldest Aussie Rules football team. The cited page includes all football clubs. Boomtish 06:53, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
