File:Geastrum saccatum.jpg to appear as POTD soon
editHello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Geastrum saccatum.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on August 30, 2010. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2010-08-30. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :) Thanks! howcheng {chat} 08:35, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
The rounded earthstar (Geastrum saccatum) is a common detrivorous mushroom found throughout the world. The outer layer fruiting body (shown here), like other earthstars, opens up in a characteristic star shape as it matures.Photo: Noodle snacks
Geastrum
editIn Brazil, its common name translates to "star of the land" Yes. Or "Earth star". Geastrum simply means "earth star" too.--Wetman (talk) 03:30, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
