Soviet Union

The soviet section has severe NPOV issue, presenting this person's claim as if it's credible, when nobody believes that it is.

According to a the apocalypse is upon us. I don't cite him in the wiki article about it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:A442:581E:1:7D99:5495:7290:1777 (talk) 13:42, 2 November 2020 (UTC)

Or we could use Catherine Merridale. Night of Stone: Death and Memory in Twentieth-Century Russia. Penguin Books, 2002 ISBN 0-14-200063-9 p. 200, or Mathias Beer. "Die Entwicklung der Gaswagen beim Mord an den Juden". In: Vierteljahrshefte für Zeitgeschichte (in German). 35 (3): p. 403?Slatersteven (talk) 13:48, 2 November 2020 (UTC)

What do those have to say on it? Does it just repeat the allegation again?

This is the problem - there's only an allegation by a lunatic, and several more "sources" who merely say "according to known lunatic Igor Suchandsuch..."

Wikipedia should not present unsubstantiated claims as truth. What is true is that the Nazis invented this method of killing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:A442:581E:1:8477:BE02:9A28:C9DF (talk) 09:50, 3 November 2020 (UTC)

I suggest you read wp:blp, it applies here as well.Slatersteven (talk) 09:53, 3 November 2020 (UTC)

change the following: Nitrogen gas or oxygen-depleted air has been considered for human execution, as it can induce nitrogen asphyxiation. The victim detects little abnormal sensation as the oxygen level falls. This leads to asphyxiation (death from lack of oxygen) without the painful and traumatic feeling of suffocation, or the side effects of poisoning.

Nitrogen gas or oxygen-depleted air has been considered for human execution, as it can induce nitrogen asphyxiation. The victim detects little abnormal sensation as the oxygen level falls. This leads to asphyxiation (death from lack of oxygen) without the painful and traumatic feeling of suffocation, or the side effects of poisoning. [citation needed]

Reason: There appears to be no citation to reliable sources in the article that establish and substantiate that nitrogen asphyxiation is painless.

Partly done: I added a ref for it. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 12:15, 4 May 2021 (UTC)

Edit request

I am requesting that the most recent edit to this article, Special:Diff/1024229148, be reverted. It added a statement claiming that the gas chamber is the "most definitely irrevocable method" of execution. That is patent nonsense.

I'll note that if one digs into the contributions of the user who made this edit, you will find plenty of instances of them adding irrelevant and/or nonsensical asides like this. I find their contributions to be almost universally bad. Trople (talk) 12:14, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 13:05, 30 October 2021 (UTC)

Suggestion: The section United States should have a link to the case Gregg v. Georgia

Specifically that part that reads:

Since the restoration of the death penalty in the United States in 1976, 11 executions by gas chamber have been conducted

Gas chambers

What are gas chambers 2.28.90.4 (talk) 09:04, 25 September 2022 (UTC)

Read the article, please. Slatersteven (talk) 11:57, 25 September 2022 (UTC)

North Korea

In the statement "After the chambers are sealed and poison is injected through a tube, while scientists observe from above through glass", is there another word that could be used besides "scientists"? A person observing the murder of a family is not acting in the capacity of a scientist.2605:A601:A9BB:D400:B88D:481A:DC2:6F5E (talk) 17:41, 5 December 2022 (UTC)

Actually they may be. It may be sick, but they may well be there as scientists. Slatersteven (talk) 18:13, 5 December 2022 (UTC)

The map and list of states that use the gas chamber are out of date. The map says that Alabama has never used the gas chamber even though they added it in 2018 as an option for the states condemned. The list of states that still use the gas chamber only includes six states even though Oklahoma and Alabama add it. Username 7156890 (talk) 19:24, 21 July 2023 (UTC)

Adding an Animal Section

The article seems incomplete due to the first paragraph mentioning that we kill other animals with gas chambers, but does not go on to clarify the various ways and reasons that gas chambers are used to kill them. From what I understand it is common in agriculture to stun pigs and chickens using CO2 gas chambers. This could be a start for making the article more complete in this sense.
