I wrote most of the more detailed information from my own research, which is why there are not many sources. Also, I realize that the article is not written very well. Please do not dumb-down the content, but improve the writing instead. Thanks, "AttiSoft"

Um, did you not notice the afd nomination for this article? The decision was to delete most of this article as being inappropriate for wikipedia. Recreating the parts that were pulled as part of a decision immediately after the decision is final is a real abuse of the system. I would suggest that you read up on these subjects to understand. Wikipedia:No_original_research, Wikipedia:Verifiability, Wikipedia:What_Wikipedia_is_not In the last one note: wikipedia is not an instruction manual or guide. Please don't revert the article to what has already been deemed inappropriate. If you want to imprive the article in an appropriate manner please do.--Nick Y. 19:51, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Gotcha.

Kart Rider edit

Added Kart Rider to the list; the new Nexon beta uses GameGuard. (IMFearless; not sure why I can't log in these days) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.65.105.147 (talk) 20:34, 7 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

GG is almost unknown - the only third party sites you'll see are gamecheating sites.

Malware? edit

Why's it in that category? - Daakun 11:30, 15 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

it is malware - it actsl ike a rootkit and its invasive and it dont shuts down and it install itself

it no has any eula

its bad ware mal

This program is most definately malware! I got this crap installed along with MapleStory and after ending the MS program, my computer was almost unusable. It was pegged at 100% CPU cycles for almost 10 minutes. I uninstalled MapleStory and was unable to uninstall the GameGuard crap. It was running in the background and would load up at every reboot. I had to search the Net for help and manually delete registry entries and was still crossing my fingers that I didn't hose my Windows install. So far it seems to be gone from my system, but I would recommend that no one ever download ANY game that has this parasite included with it! I can't stress that enough!!! eeye's blink personal firewall marks this program as a trojan, W32/Horst.gen33, and deletes ngpmup.des when ever it is run -69dot49dot44dot221 (talk) 01:07, 29 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ehh, it does have terms of use and junk.
It's put into the EULA of the game running it. - Daakun 11:22, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Daakun, it is in most EULA's, but not all. It does not have a standalone EULA that we need to agree to. Also, I believe it is both malware and "goodware" since it is using intrusive techniques (process injection/code injection) to prevent cheaters to ruin the game. Although, it can, as almost any filtering program, create false positives. ~ 24.37.160.221 23:57, 3 October 2007 (UTC) ~Reply

Please someone add the Spyware Doctor and Net Limiter in Known blocked applications. Thanks in advance —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.15.219.156 (talk) 08:32, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

CCleaner, Unlocker also blocked edit

GameGuard prevents CCleaner(?) and Unlocker from loading whenever a client running it is being run.

Unlocker is a utility used to determine what file a process is using if you tried to delete it, and displays a list of processes as well as choices on what to do with the process (kill task, unlock, etc.) along with a drop-down list for file functions (delete, rename, move).

Need confirmation from other users edit

with version 1218, it seems many of my program would not function properly while GG is on. I need to find out if it is just me or everyone else. The following programs functions differently on Windows XP Professional x64 Edition after the patch:

  • AVG Anti-Virus Tray tool report that none of the components are working.
  • Pidgin in rare instances, outgoing messages will not go through.
  • Internet Explorer 7 x86 version - search drop down menu will not work sometimes. When typing in an address in the address bar, IE will give a popup error message box stating the address cannot be reached. The 64-bit IE7 doesn't seems to be affected.
