Talk:Galactic Barrier (Star Trek)

What Ever Happened To the Kelvan Empire? Have the Borg ever passed thruogh the barrier? And in Star Trek V The Final Fronter what was the creature at the end? Reply: omegaprimejoe2@earthlink.net Use the topic Answer W. thanks

The obvious question is, if its a band, meaning it only encircles the galaxy, why not...oh say...go over it? As Spock once said, "He shows signs of... two-dimensional thinking." Xyzzyva 04:29, 2 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

thats being snarky :p. unless it continues infinitely in either direction, making it a cylinder, it is possible to go over it. the article says encircles, not envelops. the idea of the galactic barrier seems...flawed. Carterhawk

In the Star Trek Starcharts book, they discuss the Barriers and the illustration shows it encompassing the whole galaxy in a saucer shape. Trek books aren't considered canon to the series however. Cyberia23 22:13, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Great vs. Galactic Barrier edit

Hey, over at Memory-Alpha, they call the pink band at the edge of the galaxy the Galactic Barrier and the blue one in the center the Great Barrier. This seems to be based on a number of tiny canon references. Does anyone want to look into this?

I moved the article to "Galactic Barrier" instead. Cyberia23 22:09, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

The Great Barrier edit

Doesn't Chekov comment that no ship has ever returned from entering the Great Barrier in Star Trek V? If so, then it's not just fear that keeps ships out, as the article suggests. David 20:30, 10 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
