I think the map is highly inaccurate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:3024:18F1:6400:85A7:BF9C:6BE5:3C8E (talk) 20:31, 21 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

It probably is. Super Dromaeosaurus (talk) 20:05, 27 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Scope edit

This article should include both the Gagauz ASSR and the Gagauz SSR. I've made some edits doing precisely this. All of these three were the same political entity just with changes in its level of sovereignty, and in its name. Each official name under which this Gagauz entity has been known wouldn't warrant articles on their own anyway, it's better to integrate them all into one single article. We do this for example with Abkhazia, it was an ASSR until 1990 when it declared itself a separate SSR, but the article of the ASSR covers the period up until 1991, when the USSR dissolved. In academia, it appears that authors also give continuity to the three entities; see for example the title of this paper, The emergence and failure of the Gagauz Republic (1989–1995), the author could only say the Gagauz Republic started in 1989 if he included the Gagauz ASSR under the name "Gagauz Republic". Note that I'm not sure when did the switch from "Gagauz Soviet Socialist Republic" to "Gagauz Republic" take place, nor if there was a formal change at all. This needs further research.
