Talk:Gabriela Cunninghame Graham

Errors and omisions edit

The page is weak as it relies on sources that are full of inaccuracies (eg Jad Adams' claim that her "funeral was in the ruined chancel of the priory"; Tommy Mackay's statement that she died at Ardoch; the V&A being unaware that her husband was well aware of her identity and wrote to her as Carrie (family papers in the NLS)). And why no biography after Faulkner West? - surely Alexander Maitland's 1983 biography, "Robert And Gabriela Cunninghame Graham" or Anne Taylor's "The People's Laird" (2005) which had input from members of the Horsfall family - and why a book review rather than quote from the biography by Jauncey 2023?). There is a lot of work to be done here if the page is to do her any justice at all. Inchtalla (talk) 10:24, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Inchtalla, thanks for this. Please feel free to make said corrections and additions! I created the page because I thought she should be represented on Wikipedia and was a fascinating character, using the sources available to me at the time and with the hope that improvements would be made - as is Wikipedia’s way! Hopefully your suggestions can provide the basis for this - I did my best with what I was able to find at the time! Madeleineog (talk) 07:47, 19 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
