151.40.89.60 please edit under wikipedia guidelines. if you add statements such as "because they haven't the required characteristics." you need to source it. I noticed you just removed a citation needed sign with a verbal " You can see it by the composition of the G7." I consider this behavior vandalism.--Wuerzele (talk) 07:20, 10 March 2014 (UTC)

Functions

The article talks in a pretty complete way about the fundation od G-7, but what about Functions? They are not clarify in the text, maybe some can get them from the text, but it would be much better if they were specified in the article, remember the information is visited by people of all ages, and the understanding of articles depends in how clear they are. yes, and thanks talk, how right, and so much more is missing.... and yet teh (useless) massive infobox of the G8 underneath, eating computer memory.--Wuerzele (talk) 04:56, 10 March 2014 (UTC)

Now that G8 is troubled all people want to write in G7.G7 is based on the 7 developed and wealthiest (as national net wealth ) countries on Earth.Do we want to invent an awful article presentation like in the G8?Russia is in the G8 just for politic reasons (not for economic ones) and nothing else.Checking G8 article beginning i realize people haven't clear ideas about the differences between G7 and G8.People insists with GDPs.The main things in the G7 are the national net wealth and the very high HDI.GDPs are not main in the G7 and nevertheless in the G8 that is politic.People with low level culture wrote G8 article start. 151.40.89.60 (talk) 07:00, 10 March 2014 (UTC)

infoboxes at the end

I consider both infoboxes only marginally relevant; if anything an infobox showing the connections to IMF/ World Bank GATT , ie global finance would be appropriate.--Wuerzele (talk) 05:10, 11 March 2014 (UTC)

Russia was never a member of the G7 and could not have been expelled

The G7 meeting of financial ministers never included Russia. The G7 is distinct from the G8. The G7 met before the G8 was created, continued to meet separately after the G8 was formed, and has persisted since the dissolution of the G8. They are not the same thing and Russia was not expelled from the G7... because they were never a member.

Official statement: "We note that Russia's actions in Ukraine also contravene the principles and values on which the G7 and the G8 operate. As such, we have decided for the time being to suspend our participation in activities associated with the preparation of the scheduled G8 Summit in Sochi in June, until the environment comes back where the G8 is able to have meaningful discussion."173.79.251.253 (talk) 20:56, 28 March 2014 (UTC) @173.79.251.253:can you provide the / a source so we can add that statement "The G7 meeting of financial ministers never included Russia"? --Wuerzele (talk) 07:14, 29 March 2014 (UTC)

This is fine, but what we do need - and this is extremely important because I can guarantee a huge number of people reading this article will be confused by it - is some mention of the situation with Russia in the introduction to this article. The situation with Russia and the G8 needs to be made abundantly clear even if "technically" it doesn't have anything to do with the G7. The received wisdom in the general public/media is that we had the G8, we expelled Russia, and it became the G7 again. Technically that is wrong, but if we don't address why it's wrong in the introduction then nobody will know that and we'll have confusion as a result. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.26.17.69 (talk) 10:04, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
