Proposed Split

I have made a split request to split Funimation into Crunchyroll, LLC and Funimation (Service). Kevin ^Talk 02:31, 19 January 2023 (UTC)

I have pitched my support for this many times in the past. If no one opposes, I see no reason why Draft:Crunchyroll, LLC shouldn't be moved into the mainspace (pending updates and expansion as needed). Wrong article

Page Rename

The consensus dating all the way back to the very first requested move (see Requested move 1 March 2022 above) has been to split this page into an article about Crunchyroll, LLC (formerly Funimation Global Group) and an article about the soon-to-be-defunct streaming service Funimation. It's because every time a discussion comes up to move it in the mainspace, the discussion gets side-tracked or just doesn't have enough participation to actually do anything, so things have just sat this way for months. I have continuously advocated for changing this, but nothing has been done so I kinda gave up. Link20XX (talk) 17:33, 21 April 2023 (UTC)

Regarding Draft:Crunchyroll, LLC, I noticed you expanded it quite a bit with content from this article, which is fine by me. However, I am not sure all of the content you added belongs in that article. While the lawsuits section makes sense, most of the programming section about the website, its dubbing, and its content may be better in the article on the service, which has a separate draft, Draft:Funimation. The Crunchyroll Originals, Crunchyroll Expo, The Anime Awards, Operation, and Availability section all appear to be fine. The only thing is some of the more recent content in History might need to be moved. Link20XX (talk) 18:48, 21 April 2023 (UTC)

I think you removed a bit too much. The information on the 2008 investment and Chernin Group ownership is some important context for the service, so it warrants a mention. I also don't agree with removing the subsections since it helps with navigation. Finally, the content on the acquisition by Sony should be restored as the website was affected by it too, so it too is important context. The problem is that many of these sections should be worded in ways to make it more clear that this article is about the service. Link20XX (talk) 19:53, 21 April 2023 (UTC)

Since everyone seems in agreement, I would be tempted to move the draft to mainspace now and trim this page in line with the draft, which could be "merged" here for purposes of attribution.

Is everyone sure about the comma in Crunchyroll, LLC though? At least dewiki does not include the comma, referring to it as Crunchyroll LLC in line with most other businesses of this form. Felix QW (talk) 08:29, 21 May 2023 (UTC)

If someone would sort out the ref errors in Draft:Funimation, I think the most sensible course of action would be to replace the current content of this page with that of the draft, formally as a "merge" to retain attribution, and then move the other draft into mainspace as Crunchyroll LLC. I could make the requisite technical move request.

Then what is left is to sort out the incoming wikilinks and distribute them appropriately between the two pages. This is particularly important for the navboxes on this page, which also have to be divided appropriately. Felix QW (talk) 13:10, 27 May 2023 (UTC)

Funimation is also linked from Template:CATV USA, which was not actually transcluded in the Funimation article in the first place. That is bad practice, so if we decide tht it should stay on that template we should transclude the template here. Otherwise, we should remove it from the template.
