The word extremist

I have reservations about the use of this word and will run them past the WP:NPOV bulletin board. Sources appear to be solid academic stuff but would need to also use the word. Much is made of the fulani being pastoralists and so are the jihadis in Mali, which doesn’t follow unless someone explains it better to me than that. In Mali aren’t the jihadis Tuareg? that doesn’t sound very close to Nigeria, in either culture or geography ... Maybe a bad generalization, and important to rule out when calling people extremists. Again, for clarity, the sources absolutely must say exact that, but better yet would be to avoid the fighting words and call it Herder-farmer conflicts in Nigeria or some similar name? After some clicking around, I am convinced that Fulani are indeed connected to the Malian jihadists. It definitely doesn’t look very direct though. I saw something about UN condemnation, so “extremists” seems a little more credible. Previous concerns still outweigh this finding however Elinruby (talk) 19:33, 13 December 2020 (UTC)

I think you're right to be concerned. "Fulani violence in Nigeria" would be more accurate, or "Fulani-farmer conflict in Nigeria" maybe, or your suggestion of "Herder-farmer conflict in Nigeria", since the ideological connection seems slim. Somebody can be very violent without having any ideology at all.

appears to be a POV fork from Herder–farmer conflicts in Nigeria. Not up to do a line by line comparison right now, but st least some parts are identical. I note that the other article has had some wholesale deletions due to alleged religious slurs. 20:57, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
