Title of the article edit

I am almost wondering if the article title should be changed. I feel that the use of the term "extremists" is an attempt to associate these people with larger groups like ISIS. Essentially what we have in Nigeria and Mali is a conflict between two ethnic groups (herders and pastoralists) that live opposite ways of life on a limited amount of land. This has led to both sides committing atrocities. I would argue that the Fulani (or Hausa) who carry out these attacks, and the groups (Christian or otherwise) who attack Fulani and Hausa land are not terrorist actors but two sides in a war.

In conclusion, perhaps 'Fulani militants' would be a better article name? AmplifyWiki (talk) 01:46, 12 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Though the more I think about it I wonder if the article is truly necessary at all. The information could instead be integrated into articles like Fulani_herdsmen#Conflict_with_farmers and Herder–farmer conflicts in Nigeria. Picking out just the Fulani for having their own article almost seems to be an attempt to paint them as the bad guy, which doesn't jive well, especially in light of the March 2019 attacks against Fulani herders AmplifyWiki (talk) 01:53, 12 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
AmplifyWiki, I would endorse a merge, as that seems an appropriate way to handle the topic. signed, Rosguill talk 02:22, 12 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
Coming from WikiProject NigeraI also don't have a problem with a merge. But if the article is going to remain, I want to provide some inner perspective on the subject:
  1. The article is not actually bad, even though it seem like hate speech against an ethnic group. But its actually the situation of things in Nigeria
  2. While I agree that it is a case of two warring parties in different sides, local independent news agencies tend to depict the herdsmen as the "bad guys", while the farmers are the "good guys". Infact, there was a proposal to designate them as a terrorist group as they were infringing on the rights of the farmers.
  3. As a recommendation, I will suggest the political history of the conflict is added to the article. Nigerian president, being a Fulani man, and several prominent politicians have weighed in on the case. I am aware some states in Nigeria have banned the activities of herders, while some have created special colonies for them. It'd be appropriate to introduce the legal status of the herdsmen in the article.
  4. I will add more observation and suggestion, pending when the article is being merged. HandsomeBoy (talk) 08:09, 13 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
@HandsomeBoy: Thank you for your insight. I'm wondering about point 2, the local independent news agencies depicting the Fulani side as the 'bad guys'. I am wondering if there is any political reasoning behind the label. I say that because Nigeria has a decades long history of division along ethnic lines, including the Civil War that still leaves in people's memories. Do you believe the media coverage is NPOV and not tainted by that living history? AmplifyWiki (talk) 02:55, 14 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Yes! Very interested in history of Rochester, New York. Under former username, created and edited many of the biographies of the mayors of Rochester. I supported your idea about the article name why call it Fulani extremists? S Ahmad Fulani|talk 23:44, 20 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Propaganda article edit

This article should be deleted because it is full of propagandas and uncited fake information.

The propagandist try to depict that farmer-herders clashes are religious and tribal fights which is incorrect.
And above all , the title do not show the reality, it depicts herders as terrorist and farmers as saints which is unbalanced.
Again , even if the article should remain it should be renamed , there is no need of including "Fulani" in the articles name. Fulani is a tribe.
Again , there is still an article called Farmer-herders Clashes in Nigeria.

so , this article should be deleted — Preceding unsigned comment added by Scientist0003 (talkcontribs) 08:30, 15 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
