- I remembered re 1640 on where Anian redirects to that "The Spaniard Bartholomew de Fonte claimed to have sailed from Hudson Bay to the Pacific via the strait in 1640." "de Fonte" = Fuentes, I guess. Fonte is a village northeastern Italy, no connection there. Bartolomeo de Fonte or Bartolomeo Fuentes perhaps, needs a bio; his voyage is apocryphal....Skookum1 (talk) 16:39, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
