Chart position

@Ss112: Hello! I am very sorry to bother, but I am confused about a claim related to the UK chart position for the song "Break Up Bye Bye". Might you be able to confirm if the text I've drafted for the article is representative of sourcing?

  • Out Front says, "... landed a spot on the U.K. Top 40 at number 10, becoming the first top 10-hit on the U.K. charts to be performed by a drag group."
  • BroadwayWorld says, "... entered the Big UK Top 40 at #10, the song made 'herstory' by becoming the first-ever Top 10 hit in the UK charts to be performed by a drag group."
  • Gay Times says, "... made history with the single when it entered the UK top 40, becoming the highest-charting song by a drag group."
  • Metro says, "... became the first song by a drag group to reach the UK's top 10 chart."
  • The Independent says the song "climbed all the way to No 35"

I am confused! Do you think this is as simple as outlets reporting fluctuating chart positions, or might you at least be able to confirm the peak so I can try to steer wording in a specific direction? Any help determining/correcting the current article's text would be much appreciated.

Thank you! ---Another Believer (Talk) 00:05, 10 March 2021 (UTC)

@Another Believer: Sure. I assume the top 10 positions being referred to are on The Official Big Top 40, which is not the official chart of the UK—it's a competing countdown purporting to represent the most popular songs. The Official Charts Company-compiled chart, the top 40 of which is counted down on BBC Radio 1 every Friday, is the official chart of the UK that tracks sales and streams. On the official UK Singles Chart, "Break Up (Bye Bye)" reached number 35. Ss112 00:41, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
Ss112, Oh my gosh, thank you. That makes more sense. I just could not connect the pieces, not being familiar with "The Official Big Top 40". Much appreciated! I've made this edit, which hopefully clarifies the wording a bit. ---Another Believer (Talk) 01:07, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
