The Complete Andersen (6 vols., 1949) may comprise previously published volumes from 1942 or so to 1948. LCCat says that its contents as numbered are volumes 1-2 longer stories; 3-4 shorter tales; 5-6 fairy tales [1]. Compare WorldCat: books by Kredel & Andersen or identically books by Kredel & Andersen & translator Hersholt.
Kredel worked for Macy's LEC years before he "fled Germany for political reasons" in 1938. LCCat shows that an edition of Struwwelpeter "freely translated by Mark Twain" was published in 1935 by LEC [2] (presum. 1500 copies) and Harper Bros [3].
