Jewish population citation

The cited reference for the historically large Jewish population of Fresh Meadows don't say anything of the sort - it's an article about Hollis Hills with only passing, irrelevant mention of Fresh Meadows. Split Fresh Meadows Development from Fresh Meadows, Queens

I propose a split. The current article somewhat confuses Fresh Meadows the region and neighborhood of Queens with the Fresh Meadows Development, the planned community and special NYC preservation district that is part of that same Fresh Meadows neighborhood. Previously, this article included a section on the "Housing complex"--as pointed out an incorrect usage. In an edit on 24 September 2014, Epicgenius moved facts about from "Housing complex" to the history section. Such facts would be better placed elsewhere. This split would allow a better discussion of history of the community and the role that developers such as Gross Morton played in the 1930s and early 1940s as well as how New York Life came to develop the Fresh Meadow CC land. A separate article on the F.M. Development could then discuss significant aspects about its socio-political history.ImperfectKnowledge (talk) 22:37, 30 March 2016 (UTC)

NY Daily News sources

@Quackslikeaduck: I think some of the NY Daily News sources might have wrong information. I tried to find online versions of these articles for open-access purposes, but couldn't verify them. These include the following references:

• "Fresh Meadows Up Close 'Twas an Early Modern Community". New York Daily News. April 8, 1999. p. 9.<
• Bertrand, Donald (March 6, 2002). "Developer Dealt Blow: Councilman opposes Klein Farm plan". New York Daily News. p. 1.
• "Dissension Takes Root in Sale of Farm Stand". New York Daily News. March 1, 2002. p. 8.

I definitely do not want incorrect information in the article. Sometimes newspapers get facts wrong.

I have access to old newspaper articles through Proquest. Which information in particular do you believe is incorrect or doubtful?

Separate Wikipedia articles for Utopia, Queens and Hillcrest, Queens

Although this Wikipedia article claims that Utopia is a subsection of Fresh Meadows, the citation tag: https://www.nytimes.com/2003/12/21/realestate/if-you-re-thinking-of-living-in-utopia-queens-a-neighborhood-aspires-to-its-name.html says most people thinks the area is in nearby Fresh Meadows but is really a small neighborhood called Utopia, and I know Hillcrest is also a separate neighborhood. Further, on Google Maps, if you screenshot a street view of the post office on that block on Union Turnpike in Utopia, it states:

Utopia Station
Flushing, N.Y. 11366
And according to: https://tools.usps.com/zip-code-lookup.htm?citybyzipcode, Fresh Meadows (or Flushing) is the mailing address for that zip code (11366). The other source in this article for Queens Community District 8 (see here: https://communityprofiles.planning.nyc.gov/queens/8) lists Briarwood, Fresh Meadows, Hillcrest, Holliswood, Jamaica, Jamaica Estates, Jamaica Hills, Kew Gardens Hills, Pomonok, and Utopia as separate neighborhoods. So, Utopia and Hillcrest are separate neighborhoods and should therefore have different Wikipedia articles. ATC ^{. Talk} 19:15, 13 July 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for raising the issue. I think WP:PAGEDECIDE needs to be considered.

* A stand-alone page for Utopia or Hillcrest would not be covered better as part of a separate article.

* Some portions of the early history of Fresh Meadows is relevant to both Utopia and Hillcrest, and a stand-alone article about either Utopia or Hillcrest would largely be a content fork.

* An article about either Hillcrest or Utopia may end up as a permanent stub.

* The question of whether Utopia or Hillcrest are separate neighborhoods is not relevant to the question of whether they should have separate articles.
