Question about Freesat sentence

"A FreesatFromSky installation costs £150, and subscription-free PVR function is available." - Does this mean that one can get free PVR with their Freesat installation, or is it saying that one could buy Freesat and then buy a separate PVR system? It seems to suggest the former, but I have never heard of any free PVR functionality from Sky. Could someone please clear up the meaning of this sentence? Thanks. Is HD+ really FTV?

There are two ways, buy a prepaid card for 12 months or regular fee with subscription. IMO HD+ is FTV. --141.6.71.59 (talk) 16:26, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

Can Free-to-view mean you don't pay for the content but you may pay for the broadcasting service? In my opinion Free-to-view means free content, free broadcast, but pay access control. The consumer pays for compatible equipment and viewing card. But the viewing card fee is just for access control purpose and rights management, not for broadcasting service. HD+ charges 60€ a year or 5€ a month, not to restrain broadcasting area for rights purposes (same channels are available FTA in SD) but for better quality broadcast. That's very far from being free TV, that doesn't compare with other Free-to-view offers. Other free-to-view offers are available through a one-off payment or a very small fee for card renewal every few years (for example 15€ every 4 years for TNTSAT, £25 for "time to time" freesat from Sky card renewal). Card renewal comes for security reasons or just to check that you live in the right area, fee isn't intended to cover a broadcasting service. A service which purpose is to charge fees for better quality or better functionality cannot be considered as Free-to-view. But Free-to-view providers may offer services such as network services or optional channels alongside their free offer that unlocks some encrypted channels. To conclude I think that Free-to-view = nearly free access control service. HD+ is a quite expensive better broadcast quality service.
