Talk:Frederick I, Elector of Brandenburg

Old text from 2002 edit

Could someone explain the means by which the Holy Roman Empire, a thing, grants the honor of Elector to a person? It was my impression that, after Charles IV issued the Golden Bull in 1358, the Margrave of Brandenburg was one of the seven electors, so why would this be granted in 1415? JHK

The emperor Sigismund was margrave of Brandenburg. In 1415 he granted the office to Frederick.H.J.
