Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Foxconn. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Suicide statistics

Many of the phrasings in this article are really confusing. The following in particular: "Suicides of Foxconn workers continued into 2012, with one in June 2012.[118] In 2012 and into 2013, three young Foxconn employees were reported to have died by jumping off buildings." These sentences are confusing because obviously more than one Foxconn worker committed suicide in June 2012, and "suicides of Foxconn workers" will continue in every year that Foxconn exists no matter how much they improve their factory conditions. The suicide rate in Taiwan as a whole is around 20 people per 100,000 people per year. This is roughly the same as the EU average, and perhaps double that of mainland China (though their statistics are less trustworthy). Foxconn has 800,000 employees, which means that several scores of employees (probably more than a hundred) are bound to commit suicide every year. Considering their workers' demographics (young men), 10 suicides a month seems like a decent base estimate, regardless of their working conditions. It might be that Foxconn's real suicide rates are way higher than this because of their detrimental factory conditions; but most of the sentences in this article seem to assume that anything above a base rate of 0 suicides per month is surprising. I will be removing some of those sentences. Ornilnas (talk) 00:04, 22 November 2018 (UTC)
