End of the Estado Novo

The paragraph "Vargas was forced to take a temporary retirement. General Eurico Gaspar Dutra was elected by an economic crisis, congressional opposition, and impatience among his supporters. He announced an ambitious industrialization plan and pursued a policy of nationalization of the country's natural resources. To reduce foreign dependency, he founded the Petrobras Brazilian state oil enterprise" is horribly confused but I don't think I have have sufficient knowledge to put it right. I believe the "he" in the second and subsequent sentences refers to Vargas (certainly in the case of the foundation of petrobras) but the text reads as though that were Gaspar Dutra. And GD "... elected by an economic crisis ..." makes no ense at all. It looks like some text has been deleted by mistake - Does anyone know what it is meant to say? Title of the Article

The period in Brazilian History between the end of the Vargas Era (1945) and the Military Coup of 1964 is known as the "Republic of 46", after the Brazilian Constitution of 1946, that restablished democratic institutions in the wake of the deposition of the Estado Novo. This period is not called "Second Republic". I had moved this article to a page with the title "Brazilian Republic of 46" but the move has been recently reversed. The user that reversed it simply claims that he restored the title "Second Brazilian Republic" because "that's how its called". But no evidence has been presented to that effect. Fourth Republic

Hello, i'm a brazilian editor, and the title "Second Republic" is wrong, the second republic is the provisional government of Getúlio Vargas, the third one being a dictatorship, this is the Fourth Republic.--Arthur Heberle (talk) 19:36, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

Source (in portuguese). By this document, The brazilian Senate believes that the Second Republic spans from 1934 to 1937; The third republic is the Estado Novo under Vargas, which was still a republic, officially.
