4USC115 edit

Does anybody know the origin of and context regarding 4USC115? Why was Fort Campbell singled out while other locations were not? The text is as follows:

Sec. 115. Limitation on State authority to tax compensation paid to individuals performing services at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
Pay and compensation paid to an individual for personal services at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, shall be subject to taxation by the State or any political subdivision thereof of which such employee is a resident.

Mikel Crime edit

On the Fort Campbell page, Mikel is stated to have had been charged with 32 counts of attempted murder. On the Mikel page, he is stated to have been charged with 42 counts of attempted murder. Someone should find out the correct number and correct the article that is incorrect. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.212.174.183 (talk) 15:44, 18 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Propriety and Relevance of Section About Crime edit

Just speaking as one person who served in the 101st in Vietnam, what is the importance of a rather large section on the fact that a few crimes have transpired there? After all, the proud history of the 101st in Vietnam is skimmed over in a few brief sentences, but the reader is treated to a far longer section on some crimes. This looks like an attempt to suggest that the fort is somehow linked, in some way, to criminality. There was a murder recently in a medical lab at Harvard, but does that suggest some tarnish upon the reputation of Harvard? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.44.153.18 (talkcontribs) 22:32, 9 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

That is a very good question. Perhaps we could condense that section into the rest of the article. - 4twenty42o (talk) 00:17, 10 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
Agreed. (I tend to dislike lone subsections; they usually seem to be a symptom of unbalanced coverage.) --GenericBob (talk) 08:55, 10 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia doesn't delete relevant sourced content merely because it's negative information.
I agree that the article currently lacks balance. However, the problem isn't the presence of the information about a couple of criminal incidents. Lots of articles about cities, military bases, etc., include information about crimes and other bad stuff that happened there once. Rather, the article lacks balance because of the relative absence of other content about the base's history, the missions of its units, etc. What happened at Fort Campbell between 1972 and the "current operations" there?
If someone would expand the History section of the article, then the two criminal incidents would not look nearly so prominent. For example, could the article say something about the roles of the 101st Airborne Division (United States) and Fort Campbell during the 36 years from 1972 to 2008? --Orlady (talk) 16:47, 10 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yes, don't remove information, add information to balance the article out. Binksternet (talk) 17:07, 10 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
