GA on hold edit

I am going to put this article on hold for the easiest of mistakes to be fixed (sorry, my expectations are high). The article looks really good right now, but there are a few things that should be fixed before I'll pass it:

  • Fix all redirects. Just go through all of the links, and if it has to go through a redirect, fix the link so it goes directly to the correct article. There were at least ten or more throughout the article that I found.
Fixed. Remaining oddities are either pages with disambiguation links at the top or pipelined links where the article is titled in US English, but the term used in the article is UK English. 4u1e 19:37, 18 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
  • Either wikilink or describe some of the jargon a little more so people unfamiliar with Formula One and its practices can follow along. Examples would include: elimination heats/qualification heats, chassis, scrutineers (wikilink the first instance of this word, not the second), pitlane, and any other words you think may need to be described.
Fixed - to my eyes anyway! 4u1e 22:49, 2 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
  • Change 17 year old to 17-year-old. Same for 20 year old.
Done. 4u1e 22:49, 2 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Again, these should be easy to fix and I'll pass the article once they are fixed. Contact me on my talk page when you're done or if you have any questions and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. If I don't hear from you, I'll come back in a week and either pass it or fail it based on its progress. --Nehrams2020 22:19, 9 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm going to fail it for now, once these are fixed, please resubmit, you shouldn't have a problem getting it passed. --Nehrams2020 08:31, 16 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Renominated. 4u1e 22:52, 2 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

GA passed edit

Thanks for fixing the changes and I have passed this article according to the GA criteria. The article covers many aspects of the topic and is well-sourced. I recommend getting a peer review to see if there is anything else that could be improved as noticed by other editors. Also consider taking it to FA as well. Good work, and if you have the time please come help review an article or two at GAC to help remove the backlog. --Nehrams2020 22:31, 4 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Rosberg Finnish edit

Although Rosberg is now racing as a German, this suggests that he ran under the Finnish flag in FBMW in 2002 - should the article be changed? 4u1e (talk) 13:54, 17 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

In the picture on that link he has a german flag on his race suit so i say he was still racing as a germany at this pouint. MotorSportMCMXC (talk) 04:19, 10 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Unsourced statements edit

Would the editor who added the unreferenced material to the Asia section please provide citations to reliable sources? If material cannot be cited, it can be challenged (which it just has) and subsequently removed. Adrian M. H. 21:16, 8 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Just a quick note here - I moderate over on www.motorsportforums.com and we've had a guy coming along trying to promote a fictional driver within Formula BMW called Brook Johnston - he doesn't exist and the 'articles' which appear on him on the net [they have him competing in "International Formula BMW", which doesn't exist] are all fictional! So thought I'd give a heads-up. Patnicholls 14:14, 15 April 2009(UTC)

Unreferenced content moved from article edit

In 2008, Nineteen-year-old Australian Chris Wootton, Filipino-Swiss karter Marlon Stöckinger, 16, and South African Simon Moss, also 16, have each earned a Formula BMW Pacific scholarship following exhaustive trials held at Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit from December 13 to 16. The trio earn the title of Formula BMW Juniors, and will receive expert coaching and tuition throughout the season from BMW Motorsport professionals.[citation needed]

A fourth scholarship has been earmarked for 2007 Formula BMW Junior and Rookie Cup winner Kyle Mitchell of South Africa.[citation needed]

The Juniors, who were amongst 25 candidates from 12 different nations taking part in the trials, have each been offered 50,000 Euro (approximately 70,000 USD) of financial assistance towards the cost of a season in the region’s premier entry-level single seater series, as well as a full year in the unrivalled Formula BMW Pacific Education & Coaching programme.[citation needed]

The BMW Motorsport instructors who evaluated the candidates were Formula BMW Asia regular instructor Chris Wassermann of Austria, Enzo Mucci of the United Kingdom, and 2007 FIA GT2 Champion and 2005 FIA World Touring Car Championship runner-up Dirk Müller of Germany.[citation needed]

Based in Brisbane, Chris Wootton began his motorsport career at the end of 2004 in the Gold Coast Christmas race meeting. He achieved instant success becoming rookie of the year in two classes in the 2005 Queensland Karter of the Year, as well as notching up several podiums during his debut season. With motorsport very much in his blood, the Wootton family has been involved in Australian motorsport since the 1960’s in both circuit racing and rallying.[citation needed]

Please only reinstate any content that can be satisfactorily referenced to GA standard, rewriting as required. Adrian M. H. 15:03, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

New pages for past season? edit

So I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I think it'd be helpful if their were better coverage of the past and current Formula BMW seasons. I know it's a low ranking series, but it would be handy to be able to track with ease the seasons that the racers are having. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rubiksphere (talkcontribs) 01:46, 19 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

GA Sweeps: On hold edit

As part of the WikiProject Good Articles, we're doing Sweeps to determine if the article should remain a Good article. I went through the article and made various changes, please look them over. I believe the article currently meets the majority of the criteria and should remain listed as a Good article. However, in reviewing the article, I have found there are several issues that needs to be addressed.

  1. "The UK and German championships will be merged into a new pan-European series in 2008." Can this be updated?
  2. "Formula BMW is what is sometimes referred to as a "slicks and wings" formula, which describes the use of slick tires and downforce-generating wings at the front and rear." Needs a citation.
  3. "It was recently announced that 2007 would be the last year for Formula BMW UK, as it makes way for the new pan-European championship, which leaves Marcus Ericsson of Sweden as the last UK champion." This needs to be updated.
  4. The stats in the "Drivers' champions" section is uncited.
  5. All of the dates need to be unlinked. This would be a good time to update the access dates as well after verifying all of the links work. Right now, there are multiple dead links that need to be fixed. The Internet Archive can help in fixing them.
  6. It seems like there should be more coverage of the 2008 season throughout the article. Has there been any major updates to the formula?

This article covers the topic well and is still in pretty good shape after I reviewed it in 2007. I will leave the article on hold for seven days, but if progress is being made and an extension is needed, one may be given. If no progress is made, the article may be delisted, which can then later be renominated at WP:GAN. I'll contact all of the main contributors and related WikiProjects so the workload can be shared. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 21:47, 16 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

GA Sweeps: Delisted edit

The article has been on hold for a week and only a few of the minor improvements were made. As a result I have delisted the article as it still has a way to go before meeting the GA criteria. Continue to improve the article, addressing the issues above. Once they are addressed, please renominate the article at WP:GAN. I look forward to seeing the further improvement of the article, and don't hesitate to contact me if you need assistance with any of these. If you disagree with this review, a community consensus can be reached at WP:GAR. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Happy editing!
