Talk:Forensic engineering

Untitled edit

I am developing this article to include more case studies so as to make it more interesting and relevant. I am also adding many more links , especially to related subjects on the forensic science side of the subject. Comments are welcome! Peterlewis 09:34, 19 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Law Enforcement edit

Please explain why law enforcement tag has been removed from the article. It is a topic which should be studied by every investigator, police or otherwise. Peterlewis 17:08, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Definition too narrow edit

I expanded the definition a bit, but it's not quite there yet. Apart from product liability cases, forensic engineering can also be applied in cases where the product didn't fail, but was used in inappropriate ways or the process of use lead to failure, rather than the machine itself being faulty. This can be in worker injury suits, traffic accidents or the like. 71.236.26.74 (talk) 02:05, 11 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Format Update edit

Although this is a popular topic, the formatting on this page has been lacking. I am suggesting we adopt a few sub-sections to make the article more focused and more accessible for new readers. I will wait a few weeks for anyone's feedback. Here's my suggestion:

Forensic Engineering

1. History

2. Investigation: Inspection, collecting evidence, photographs, measurements, etc.

3. Analysis: Processing data, evaluating possible hypotheses, creating models, testing, etc.

4. Examples

6. See Also

7. References

8. External Links

More Information Needed edit

We need contributions related to history, investigation, and a review of the examples and historical example provide. Should these be condensed? What other pictures would work for this page?
