Fair use rationale for Image:Foreigner Pollard.jpg
editImage:Foreigner Pollard.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
Requested move 3 October 2021
edit- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: procedural close. The nominator has been blocked as a sock, and the only other comment is in opposition. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 16:15, 16 October 2021 (UTC)
Foreigner (comics) → The Foreigner (comics) – In the article, "The Foreigner" is used 15 times, "the Foreigner" 18 times, and "Foreigner" without "The" or "the" 4 times in the body text – all in the last paragraph of the biography section. I therefore suggest that the name of this character is actually "The Foreigner", and not just "Foreigner".
I'm no expert in Marvel comics, but I looked through a few other well-known characters and noticed by way of comparison that The Hulk is a redirect to Hulk: I presume that consensus is that "Hulk" is the common name for that character, especially as it discusses variants such as The Incredible Hulk. But that article does not exclusively call the character "The" (or "the") Hulk, also just "Hulk", and even on its talk page there are varied uses of "Hulk" with or without "The"/"the".
WP:NCC/THE sensibly says Remember to only include initial "The" when appropriate" and defers to the general naming conventions. But if the character is usually or exclusively named with "the" or "The", it seems appropriate to have it in the title. 85.67.32.244 (talk) 06:06, 3 October 2021 (UTC)
- The paragraph I called out was added on 13 October 2019 by @Rtkat3: page moves for this article started way back in 2005 (see the history at the redirect The Foreigner). 85.67.32.244 (talk) 06:16, 3 October 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose. Though P&G is not very clear on this, it seems like the precedent is generally not to include the definite article for named characters even when they're usually referred to with "the" in the article body. For example, Flash (DC Comics character), Hobgoblin (comics), Human Torch. Colin M (talk) 20:37, 14 October 2021 (UTC)
