I propose the merger of

Both have good information, neither is great, but the combination would improve both. Chris 17:25, 17 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Chris:
Wikipedia convention is that you make the proposal, and make the change if and when you have got a concensus.
I will say oppose.
Wikipedia currently has two kinds of articles for countries and their foreign relations. One describes a country's foreign relations in detail, and is typically in a prose format (e.g. Foreign relations of France). The other type of article simply lists where a country's diplomatic missions are located by region (e.g.: French diplomatic missions). There may be a little overlap between the two, but the functions of both are different and clear.
We have written articles on foreign relations for almost every country (if not every country), and have complied lists of diplomatic relations for over sixty countries.
Changes will be reverted back - contact me via my talk page if you have further questions.

Leade

edit

Leade always contains most recent and most important piece of article. Current relations are strained with West, specially UK foreign minister statement as well as with Muslim world. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 39.43.190.108 (talk) 16:44, 8 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lead section and Wikipedia:Recentism, the lead should be written in a clear, accessible style with neutral point of view. The emphasis given to material in the lead should roughly reflect its importance to the topic, according to reliable, published sources. Apart from basic facts, significant information should not appear in the lead and should be included in the remainder of the article. What is most recent is not necessarily what is most notable. --Phyo WP (message) 21:39, 8 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Keep as suggested by IP @Phyo WP: please read below.

  • I agree that Recentism is sometimes discouraged but Proper perspective sometimes requires maturity, judgment, and the passage of time. In this case recentism is a symptom of Wikipedia's dynamic and immediate editorial process, and has positive aspects as well—up-to-date information on breaking news events, vetted and counter-vetted by enthusiastic volunteer editors, is something that no other encyclopedia can offer.
  • The lead serves as an introduction to the article and a summary of its most important contents. We know that forieng relation of Myanmar had been strained over long period of times with West and in current decade with Muslims across globe.
  • Proposed Edits eventually meets the general notability guideline NtiniMkaya (talk) 12:53, 9 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
I reverted the changes as WP:UNDUE and WP:SYNTH. Half the lead should not be devoted to a section less than one-tenth of the article size, especially when it makes claims that the article itself doesn't support (and even contradicts). We simply don't have the sources needed to show a significant shift in foreign relations at this time. Also, the GNG has nothing to do with article content. US section

edit

As a notice to other editors, in line with WP:SUMMARY I've edited down the US section significantly. If you feel this should be restored and discussed, please do so. I copyedited more conservatively at first up to the edit with the summary "Adding 2015-2022 US-Myanmar relations summary" before I edited the whole section to be significantly shorter.
