Copyright issues edit

I came across this article while doing NPP, and the system flagged the article as a possible copyvio. See the CopyPatrol report at https://tools.wmflabs.org/copypatrol/en?filter=all&searchCriteria=page_exact&searchText=Foreign%20interventions%20by%20the%20Soviet%20Union&drafts=0&revision=903165317 The 'Winter War' section of the article does appear to have a substantial textual overlap with https://www.military-stuff.org/fire-and-ice-the-winter-war-of-finland-and-russia-part-2/ The CopyPatrol report shows a 92% textual overlap between the 'Winter War' section of the WP article and the above source. I am not seeing any indication that the latter source is freely licensed as a public domain document. But even if it turns out that it is, such near verbatim usage of the source in a Wikipedia article would require explicit attribution, by using Template:Source-attribution in the relevant section of the article, or in some other way. I see from looking at the page history that this article seems to have been created as a split-off of another article or articles (although it was not quite clear which ones exactly). Maybe this copyright issue already existed in those previous articles, and maybe it was already addressed there, I am not sure. In any case, I think that something needs to be done here. Pinging the editors who edited this article previously: @Jamez42, Diannaa, Power~enwiki, Tobby72, MainlyTwelve, and Redhill54: Thanks, Nsk92 (talk) 16:04, 18 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

The content was copied here from Winter War; here is the addition; note the legally required attribution was provided in the edit summary. Content at https://www.military-stuff.org/fire-and-ice-the-winter-war-of-finland-and-russia-part-2/ was also copied from Winter War, which is a Featured Article. And here is some more attribution that I added here back in June: Diff of Foreign interventions by the Soviet UnionDiannaa 🍁 (talk) 16:51, 18 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
In general, if you discover links to CopyPatrol reports while working NPP and they're already marked as resolved by any of us CopyPatrol regulars (check the leaderboard), you can safely assume that the copyright issue (or attribution issue, like in this case) has already been resolved. Feel free to check with me if you're not sure. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 17:00, 18 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
OK, very good, thanks! Nsk92 (talk) 17:05, 18 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
