Demo release

Just added a quick mention that the demo version of the game will be released this coming Saturday

Official unveiling

According to Eurogamer, there are going to be over 100 new features. There's lots of other more specific details in the news article too. I would add them here, but I'm not quite proficient enough. I have done about 10 edits here and there, but I'm still not that good. Also, I'm very much a Football Manager fanboy, you might say, and would find it hard to write this NPOV.

Have fun people.--194.247.252.196 16:13, 8 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Revisions - 13th June 2006 edit

Hey all,

I've done a lot of revisions to the article as a whole, and some of the resources used. These include:

  • Minor changes to some text, chopping and changing the article to make it more fluid.
  • Revision of the screenshot Image:Fm2007screen.jpg to include licence information (otherwise the picture would have been deleted).
  • Adding two new screenshots (below) of FM 2007 (complete with licence informations, after permission was given by Marc Duffy of SI to use them).
  • Formed the new features text into a list to make it easier to read.
  • Expanded the feeder clubs dicsussion into its own sub-section.

Anyhow... I thought it needed some revision. It may be possible to remove the stub link with a few more edits to the article! :)

Yes, well done. It's looking better all the time. Perhaps the only thing that makes me think is, if you look very carefully at the loading screen image you put up, look very carefully at the logo just in the corner of the loading bar. Isn't that the FM2006 logo? Surely something like that would not be left in a playable build, no matter how early. Does this mean that perhaps these screens are just mock-ups?

Just so you know, this is the same user as the IP address above. My damn ISP changes my address every time I connect to the net.--194.247.239.1 15:34, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

--- You're right, of course! Ter at SI says that they haven't finished the artwork for the new game yet, so I think they're still provisionally using last years art while it's finalised. --Dan (Talk)|@ 19:31, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately i bought the demo version and theres no player pictures. What can i do about that? (i dont want to buy a new one)

Redirects edit

Hiya, it's the same guy as the last two IPs here. Perhaps we should create some redirects to this article? I was thinking stuff like FM2007 and Football Manager 07. I would do it, but I would probably go about it the wrong way.--212.139.6.207 07:12, 1 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Also, I've finally registered, after around fifty anonymous edits here and there, usually minor edits, or talk page stuff, as seen on this talk page. So, yeah. Those previous IP addresses are now me.--Dreaded Walrus 07:39, 1 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
I don't think Football Manager 07 is really necessary but I went ahead and did the other redirect :) ugen64 02:12, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Feeder Clubs edit

The line: "and feeder clubs also get first option on players whom the parent club no longer wish to employ."

Suggests that they will only send you players they don't want, they could want to keep the player, but he is too good for the club and wishes to move to a better club?

You're looking at it back to front. The statement is correct, it means it that the feeder club (ie the small club) will get a first option to sign any players that are being sold/released by the parent club (the big club) DJDannyP//Talk2Me 16:49, 29 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

More Info edit

Theres a myspace blog by SI (www.myspace.com/sigames) in which they are announcing new features.. these will then be announced (along with screenshots) at the end of the week on sigames.com).. maybe a link to that + info on some of the new features this page is missing? The Celtic Incident edit

Do we really actually need this in here? On the official forums there are official (i.e. started by admins) threads for data errors for almost every team in England, and a few in Scotland too. Also, I can see that particular section being edited repeatedly, vandalised e.t.c. as has been seen today already. Not only that, but is it really notable enough to have an entire section dedicated solely to errors with regards to Celtic? I mean, honestly. Can I have some opinions on this please? --Dreaded Walrus 20:52, 3 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'll admit I am biased as I am a Celtic supporter, however this is not just a simple data error complaint. Nor is it a case of fans critiquing SI's judgement on players saying "Maloney shouldn't be a 15 dribbling, he should be at least 16!". This is actually a fairly big issue as one of the biggest teams in the world (16th richest, champions of a national league, one of the largest fanbases in thw world, playing in CL) is going to have a terribly inaccurate team. Finances off, players who are not in the team are included, some players who have never played a first team game are in the senior squad, whereas regulars like Maloney and McManus are in the reserves... I can go on for a while but I assume you know of the problems. This is far worse than any other team in any other FM/CM game in the past. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.100.202.136 (talkcontribs)

Hello. Firstly, I see from your contributions that you are new to Wikipedia. Please sign your comments on talk pages by using four tildes (like this: ~~~~), rather than just inserting something manually. Secondly, I also see, from your contributions again, that you seem intent on doing proper edits that contribute well to Wikipedia. Perhaps you would like to register? It is free, takes only a couple of minutes, and you will be able to edit under the same identity no matter where you are, and likewise it will be easier for people to leave messages for you. You can even choose your own username (including jaradthescot if you wanted ;)), and get involved with the community easier. Just a suggestion, of course. :)
As for the main issue, about the Celtic data, it seems from what I've read that it was entirely accidental. Being an experienced programmer myself (not professionally, I hasten to add), and being very experienced with the FM Data Editor, the necessary changes would take less than an hour, even in FM Data Editor (which is, of course, not quite the same tool SI themselves use to edit the databases, which are likely more efficient). There will likely be a patch soon after release for these issues, along with some for other clubs and players, but if fans don't want to wait that long, the database editor has been packaged with the game in the past, likely the same will be true this time, and fans can always fix these issues themselves. --Dreaded Walrus 17:31, 6 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Licensing edit

Due to licensing issues, teams like Holland and Germany don't have real players. Some players and team names are fake too(kahn, french league). SI's way around it is not to remove those names from the database but use additional files(.lnc) that would alter those data. Essentially, deleting those files gets you all the real names and teams. Can we add these details to the article or would it be breaking some kind of rules by giving instructions to circumvent the licensing problem? We could word it such that we just explain how lnc files work. The reader can come to his/her own conclusion what needs to be done to get all the real players/team back.--220.255.237.48 11:46, 18 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Quick update 15/11/06 edit

Just added a brief sentence about the critical reaction to the game in the "Reaction" section.

Missing teams due to rights issues edit

It would be useful, I think, to list what is unavailable in FM07 (but was previously available) due to rights issues. E.g. the German national team. I think such information is on a par with "new features" as they are essentially "removed features". aLii 19:06, 28 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tutorial edit

This game is very good and greatly in depth, a bargain for £14.99 and well worth that but as it is such a big game the tutorial is a neccessary aspect of the game, especially for begginners but I see no mention of this in the article, should it be included? D. BULL 09:14, 9 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree, the tutorial should have a section of its own, anyone got any objections of me adding this section? Krummy2 09:10, 14 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

It should be mentioned in Football Manager 2006, as, as far as I can remember, that was the first game to feature the tutorial. It could go in this article in the "new features" section, apart from the fact that it isn't new to this game. One thing that is new to this version is the wizard when starting a game, that takes you through the "new game" creation step by step. This, perhaps, should be mentioned in the article. :) --Dreaded Walrus t c 10:47, 14 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

system requirements edit

I have added the basic requirements from the back of the case, do I need a source for this? Krummy2 09:12, 14 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

If you can find a section on the official website, or find an official post on the forums mentioning the system requirements, that would be best, but otherwise I wouldn't say it is too essential. --Dreaded Walrus t c 10:48, 14 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Tactics edit

Football Manager 2007 is the most realistic in the current series with tactics playing a more important part than ever before in the history of FM. Before you could pick for example Chelsea, set up 4-3-3, pick your best XI and win every week, but now you have to tweak mentalities, tempos etc every game depending on how your opposition lines up. Many disgruntled players complaining of it being too hard on the SI Games forums, should this have a line or two? --GOD 10:35, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fansites edit

Sorry for not using the Discussion page sooner I thought it would be obvious. The SIAS has not been updated in 2 years, SI Games themselves admit that it is out of date and worth nothing. Therefore it is pointless linking to it as a resource for users finding external links, as, to put it frankly, it is USELESS.

The FM Portal is a Directory of fansites, it is not a fansite itself. It is a free directory containing the most up to date list of all the FM 2007 Fansites around and is open to anyone to submit there links (is moderated so not a free for all). Therefore it is alot more useful to users. I put it up, not because of spam as was stated in the reason for edit by Dreaded Walrus, but because I believe wikipedia is meant be a useful resource for readers, linking to the fm portal is very useful has it has all the fansites and all the content/help guides from all over the internet, were as the SIAS offers a list of fansites which is 2 years out of date.

Please stop undoing what others are trying to do, without fully understanding the reasons for it. I will edit it back and leave the reason as "explained in the discussion page", then hopefully you will come here and discuss it without blindly editing it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 87.81.193.129 (talkcontribs).

I am here already. The reason I used the term "spam" was because you inserted links to the portal across all articles, using it as a source rather than the official equivalent, and, in many cases, stating it to be the official site. See here, where you replace the official site with a link to the portal still stating it as the "official site", similar here, and here as well. When a user goes around and makes changes such as these, it is considered spam. And best of all, see this edit, and ones like it. "THERE IS NO NEED TO LINK TO VARIOUS INDIVIDUAL AFFILIATES, SINCE THIS COULD BE CONSTRUED AS FAVOURING CERTAIN SITES". Surely only linking to one site is "favouring certain sites"? --Dreaded Walrus t c 21:05, 12 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Also, please note that I did not blindly edit the pages. I looked through your contributions to see if you had attempted discussion at all, which I would have joined. But there was none, so I was bold in my actions. As noone reverted my changes, or messaged me about it, I assumed that they were positive changes. Also, please remember to sign your posts using ~~~~. Thanks. --Dreaded Walrus t c 21:08, 12 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
After 26 hours with no response here, I decided to revert. Please do discuss here when ready. --Dreaded Walrus t c 22:09, 13 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
