Untitled edit

I made the alteration of the political positions of the paper because I believe Folha de S. Paulo is not neutral at all and shows no center-left positions in its editorials. For instance, the paper recently published an article arguing that the country should rise its oil prices, even though it was already very close to autonomy and had no need to do so, in order to assure a fair competition with private business (when it would cost less for the Brazilian economy to subsidize the few private company of the oil business). That is certainly a neoliberal position, as is the paper's defence of the idea of "choque de gestão", one of the variations of the minimum state. In its editorial, Folha de S. Paulo usually takes on a liberal stance in social issues, such as abortion, gay rights etc., but it defends the same economic policies the Fiesp (Federação das indústrias do estado de São Paulo - the most important association of businessmen in Brazil). It may be in favour of development and even progressist, but it's not center-left, as it favours capital in stead of labour. - Manuel

Fair use rationale for Image:Folha de S. Paulo.PNG edit

Image:Folha de S. Paulo.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

So what... edit

...does "Folha" mean anyway? The whole thing comes out to "[...] of Sao Paulo". 68.39.174.238 (talk) 17:20, 8 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Folha" literally means "paper" in Portuguese. --Nadir D Steinmetz 15:51, 6 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Not really; "Folha" literally means "sheet". Tsf (talk) 12:11, 31 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Strange edit

"Recently, Folha de São Paulo have caused sanitary disturbance with political intent. In one episody, the journal published several articles about a suposed epidemy of yellow-fever - wich was not occuring, and what let lots of brazilians to take vacin again and get ill because of it. In the end, more people dyied by taking unnecessary vacin than by yellow-fever itself, since there was no epidemy at all."

Fractured English, suggests motive. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.44.176.35 (talk) 02:40, 11 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sections removed edit

I've removed the lengthy sections of this article about the newspapers legal battles, both for its convictions and courtroom victories, as they were completely unsourced. These sections contained plenty of contentious allegations about living people, and per WP:BLP all such allegations must be supported by reliable sources. These sections shouldn't be restored without proper sourcing. Robofish (talk) 15:15, 1 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
