Conflicting dates re: C. l. floridanus extinction edit

This article is ridiculous. The red Wolf is not extinct, you can see some at the Brevard Zoo in Florida; they are endangered. The black Wolf was also spotted in the panhandle a few years back and is believed to be back too. 185.191.217.116 (talk) 06:24, 11 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

I am adding a "Disputed" tag to the article due to the lack of verifiable sources and notability (see Wikipedia:Notability), as well as the article itself saying "one source believes the Florida black wolf to be a type of coyote, rather than a separate subspecies of red wolf". I also cannot find any evidence of studies done on the Florida black wolf, including DNA studies, or even if any specimens of this subspecies exist. Obversa (talk) 20:48, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
