Confederate States of America flag edit

It is kind of hard to point out propaganda when both sides of the media are saying the same thing. (The Moscow Times), (Kyiv Post) - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 20:49, 17 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Kharkov People's Republic flag edit

Kharkov People's Republic (KPR) was proclaimed and ended 7 April; Federal State of Novorossiya was proclaimed on 22 May. Since this article is about the flag(s) of the Federal State of Novorossiya having the KPR-flag here makes not much sense. Besides since the KPR was never bigger then a building (and the people who proclaimed it in this building did only control a small part of the building) the KPR was much more a fantasy then a state. Besides the Federal State of Novorossiya does not claim that the KPR is (currently) a part of their federation. — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 15:16, 21 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Apparently some editors think that a proclaimed state that controlled a building for a few hours does not fall in the category "Failed state proposals"; calling a flag of a group of people that proclaimed a "state" that was never bigger then a building and only lasted for a few hours a "State flag" is laughable... Surly a name that does this Kharkov People's Republic-flag more justice should be found... — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 15:56, 21 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

My point is not that the flag is similar but that the Kharkov People's Republic was not even remotely a "state". — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 16:20, 21 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

How about we qualify this flag under "other proclaimed republics of the 2014 pro-Russian unrest in Ukraine"? — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 16:27, 21 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

The Romanov flag is not a state, but nonetheless, the flag exists, was used, was distributed and bears similarity to the national flag.
The Russian naval ensign is not a state, but nonetheless, the flag exists, is used, is distributed, and bears similarity to the battle flag.
The Kharkov People's Republic's statehood has no bearing on the matter, the flag existed, was distributed, used by the self-proclaimed authorities (even if for a few weeks at best), and bears similarity to the state flags.

See this revised infograph as to further my point: https://i.imgur.com/D3hGPph.png — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.47.1.184 (talk) 16:34, 21 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

It would been nicer if you had apologized for insulting me.... and calling me a potential member of Right sector I happen to greatly dislike that... (We all make mistakes. Don't be afraid to apologize.) And you fail to answer the matter that the Kharkov People's Republic's did not have any "statehood".... Controlling a building for a few hours can not be put on equal level with "statehood".... — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 16:44, 21 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

PS Yes the flag is similar; but my point is that the Kharkov People's Republic's-flag is not a "State flags"; because a group of people controlling a building for a few hours is not a state (I am not sure they pretended to be a state after the police kicked them out of the RSA building, if so a "state" that does not control even 1 building is also not a state....). — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 16:49, 21 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Congratulations on completely missing my point! 10/10!

The entire purpose of the gallery is to show the reader flags that have existed or do currently exist that bear similarity to one of the flags highlighted in the article.

Regardless of whether or not the Kharkov People's Republic ever existed 'officially' or just because it only occupied administrative buildings. The flag still existed.

And I see no reason to apologise, you have repeatedly ignored the point I have tried to make time and time again, removing large chunks of the article based on your claims, adding broken references to back them up, and then hiding any valid criticism as a "personal attack" because you disagree with it.

I'm not trying to claim legitimacy of the state, nor am I saying it is one. All I'm saying is the flag existed, was used, and looks similar to the flags used by the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, which is more than enough.

The naval jack of the Confederate States of America is even listed there, and not a single state ever recognised it!

How is trying to make me look like a member of Right Sector "valid criticism"? — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 17:13, 21 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

I think there's been a huge misunderstanding where something has gotten lost in translation of you've misread.

Where the section says "State flags", it's refering to the state flags of the DNR and LNR, and showing that the flag of the self-proclaimed KNR bears similarities. It's not saying that the KNR is a part of Novorossiya, it's saying that its flag looks similar.

This section is for THE FLAGS OF the states of Novorossiya. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_the_Federal_State_of_Novorossiya#State_flags

This section is for flags that LOOK SIMILAR TO the flags of the states of Novorissiya. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_the_Federal_State_of_Novorossiya#State_flags_2

Much like this section is for the battle flag of Novorossiya. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_the_Federal_State_of_Novorossiya#Battle_flag

And that this section is for flags that look similar to the battle flag of Novorossiya. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_the_Federal_State_of_Novorossiya#Battle_flag_2

If this is the case, and you've misread, then only then do I apologise. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.47.1.184 (talk) 17:25, 21 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

80.47.1.184 deleted the above comments on this talk page today. Removing another editor's comments is sometimes allowed, but normally you should stop if there is any objection; and I object since now other editors can not enter the discussion. I am not sure why the IP made the deletions. I hope it is not to cover up the fact that his comments were bordering on behavior that is unacceptable. — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 11:48, 22 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Wrong flags edit

The information in this article is misled. This is wrong flags. They are never used:

The true flags:

The true flag of Lugansk republic see there: [1] The Donetsk republic flag without inscriptions isn't used. But there is an option where the name of the state entirely is written (ДОНЕЦКАЯ НАРОДНАЯ - from above, РЕСПУБЛИКА - from below) [2][3][4][5][6]. The white-yellow-black novorussian flag once was shown by Tsaryov, this flag was never used de facto. --Nicolay Sidorov (talk) 19:19, 7 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Flag of NovorossiyaFlags of separatist movements in Ukraine – Please place your rationale for the proposed move here. Panam2014 (talk) 16:11, 23 February 2017 (UTC) Hi Novorossya is just a proposal. It does not exist. --Panam2014 (talk) 16:11, 23 February 2017 (UTC) @Yulia Romero: --Panam2014 (talk) 16:14, 23 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose - as per MOS:LIST - a list-titled or plural-titled article should not contain only one entry. DrStrauss talk 15:17, 25 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
@DrStrauss: The problem is that there is no entity named "Novorossiya", it was just a project of some separatists like Pavel Gubarev and Oleg Tsariov. Do you have another proposal? We could also make an article about Luhansk and another about Donetsk but I think it's useless. --Panam2014 (talk) 16:09, 25 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hi Panam2014, we could merge this article's contents into Novorossiya (confederation). What do you think to that? DrStrauss talk 16:11, 25 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
hi @DrStrauss: Good idea, but suddenly we do what for the flags of DNR and LNR? --Panam2014 (talk) 16:15, 25 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Novorossia is not an unrecognized state edit

Hi @Лобачев Владимир: It is just a projet. But DNR and LNR are an unrecognized states. The article should be merged with Novorossiya (confederation) and we could create articles for DNR and LNR flags. --Panam2014 (talk) 11:40, 3 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Лобачев Владимир: No, it is a former urecognized states. Novorossia is a project. --Panam2014 (talk) 15:20, 3 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
This is also the former state, which had leaders and the parliament. --Лобачев Владимир (talk) 15:26, 3 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Лобачев Владимир: please read the article. It was only a project with a project of parliament. --Panam2014 (talk) 21:33, 3 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
Novorossiya - is a confederation (see source in ru:Новороссия (конфедерация)). --Лобачев Владимир (talk) 22:36, 3 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Лобачев Владимир: hi, but the english Wikipedia said that it was a proposed confederation. DNR and LNR are not proposed states, DNR/LNR are unrecognized states. What should made with the article ? It could be a duplicate and a WP:FORK or this article. --Panam2014 (talk) 11:48, 4 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
    • Section Flags of separatist movements in Ukraines is not relevant to the topic of this article. It can be moved to a separate article. --Лобачев Владимир (talk) 13:10, 4 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Confused with the Confederate flag edit

The flag designs looked so similar, difference are the other one has stars on it, while the other doesn’t. 2603:8001:8101:38F0:D039:4451:DA3A:1F46 (talk) 01:49, 9 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

This makes a lot of sense as a critique when you don't know anything about the history of the region or the rules of flag design. The flag of "Novorussia" is actually a combination of the Semirechye Cossacks flag and the St. Andrew's Cross. Saying this flag is similar to the Confederate Flag is like saying the Union Jack is similar to the Confederate flag.
I'm editing the section that says "no Cossacks ever used a flag resembling the one chosen" as this is simply not true even according to Wikipedia's own entry for the Semirechye Cossacks. 69.127.80.46 (talk) 15:03, 3 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
