Talk:Flag of Easter Island

Dubious edit

The sourced claim from WorldAtlas.com is that "the original flag of Easter Island was first flown in the 13th century". This claim is highly dubious as that would make it the world's oldest flag, older than the Flag of Denmark. The source is also dubious in that the website claims the red symbol "reportedly represents a moon" when it is in fact a reimiro (a pectoral ornament). I postulate that the mistake made on the source website is that it meant to say that Easter Island was first settled in the 13th century, a statement which is true. I'm leaving the claim because I cannot find another source supporting or detailing the origin of the 'original' flag. --78.10.243.60 (talk) 20:07, 29 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

I have sent an email to the editors at WorldAtlas and have received a reply that the 13th century date was likely a mistake.--78.10.243.60 (talk) 15:45, 5 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
