"Flag Day" in Portugal?
editI see no reason to consider the 1st of December as Portugal's "Flag Day". That is not how the holiday is perceived in Portugal! When we celebrate the day we make no reference to the flag — for us is "Restoration Day", the day we recovered our independence. The flag has no central role in the celebration. (No more than in any other national holiday, that is.) And why would it? The flag flown in 1640 was not the same flag we use now, which was adopted in 1911. And the previous Portuguese national flag was also not the one from 1640, but it was adopted in 1830. In fact, the flag from 1640 only lasted until 1667, although the change of design in 1667 was a minor one. So, basically, what we can say is that there is no such concept as a "Flag Day" in Portugal. The closest thing to that would be the 5th of October (no longer an official holiday), when as part of the official celebration the national flag is hoisted by the President from the balcony of Lisbon's town hall, where, in 1910, the Republic was publicly declared. 178.166.11.2 (talk) 12:38, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

"Vietnamese Flag Day"
editI'm certainly sure that the guy who cited the website that said "March 11th is the Flag Day of Vietnam" doesn't know Vietnamese. The article says "March 11 is the day that Bao Dai announces the new government of Vietnam, with Tran Trong Kim as prime minister." It was the Empire of Vietnam, not the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. In fact, Vietnam has NO FLAG DAY, because tôi là người Việt, và chính quyền chưa bao giờ công bố ngày tạo ra quốc kỳ ! I'm gonna delete that "Vietnam section" in this Wikipedia article because of the misinformation. The Travel Guy (talk) 13:50, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
United Kingdom - St Patrick's Day?
editThe list of dates includes March 17, St Patrick's Day, but the list of Saint's Day names does not include it. This is inconsistent. Mdrb55 (talk) 09:08, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
Is St Patrick's Day a flag day in Northern Ireland? Mdrb55 (talk) 09:12, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
- There's a great deal of doubt whether the red saltire on white is a real historical or traditional Irish symbol at all. It seems to have been introduced at the founding of the British royal Order of St Patrick in 1783... AnonMoos (talk) 13:19, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
